This Season: T4C Studio
Sep 29th, 2008 | By Blog Editor | Category: "This Season" Features & Other Spotlights, Newest PostsFor hip-hop dancers and choreographers Tymme and Aury Reitz, dance isn’t the ultimate calling. But it’s a way
to achieve the ultimate calling.Through their art, Tymme and Aury share their faith with hip-hop fans in Los Angeles County and throughout Southern California. After nearly a decade of devotion, their projects now include several Christian arts-based ministries.
This month, the Reitzs’ kicked off their latest project, which partners their dance company Word in Motion with a brand new dance and fitness studio, Time 4 Class (T4C). This alliance not only gives the Reitzs’ company a new home, but it also provides new opportunities for their community to enjoy dance.

Before beginning their dance ministry, Tymme and Aury Reitz worked with artists like Madonna, Will Smith, Missy Elliott, and Dru Hill. Their work has been featured in various awards programs and music videos.
In the late 1990s, the Reitzs began to fuse the two greatest influences in their lives: their faith and their love of dance. In 2001, their mission began with the founding of The Arts Prophetically Speaking (TAPS) Dance ministry. In 2005, their efforts increased when they created Word in Motion Dance Company, which–for the past several years–has hosted an annual urban dance festival in Woodland Hills, California. This year, the festival included four days of worship-based hip-hop from Christian artists.
Now, Word in Motion dancers have taken the opportunity to begin a new partnership with T4C Studio.
“Most of our company have been already teaching professionally, and they are highly qualified instructors,” Tymme explained. In their new partnership, professional Word in Motion dancers teach the majority of dance classes at T4C.
T4C is not an exclusively “Christian studio,” though T4C’s owner Sandy Rieback works closely with Word in Motion and their ministry. Rieback offers a variety of fitness and dance classes. But the partnership works for both groups. While Word in Motion gets to practice in the studio, Rieback and her students get access to a large supply of professional dance instructors.
At T4C, Tymme and Aury teach the Word in Motion company class. Although it is open to anyone, Tymme said, it focuses on “training Christians for ministry.”
Dance and Devotions
As Word in Motion dancers receive their physical training at T4C, they do their spiritual
training with In His Presence Underground, a ministry that conducts hip-hop based services at In His Presence Church, where both Tymme and Aury are ordained as pastors. At IHP Underground, worship services incorporate Word in Motion and the TAPS Dance artists. During each service, Tymme and Aury combine worship and Biblical teaching with dance, music, and multimedia.

Word in Motion and IHP Underground
For dancers who want to use their talents in ministry, Tymme and Aury invite them to begin the process of working with the company.
Potential Word in Motion members serve first at IHP Underground, as these services are the company’s main focus. Tymme explained, “Although talent is a must, we are more concerned about their heart of a servant.”
